Stair Lift Installation in Pennsylvania & New Jersey — Most Installs Done in 2 to 4 Hours
Our own certified technicians install straight, outdoor, standing, rental, and refurbished stair lifts across Eastern Pennsylvania and Hunterdon County, NJ. We usually visit within 48 hours, measure your stairs for free, and most customers go from first call to first ride within a week.
What's Included in Every Stair Lift Installation
Stair lift installation is more than bolting a rail to the stairs. A good install starts with an accurate measurement, ends with the person who'll use the lift feeling confident on it, and comes with someone local to call afterward. Here's what every installation from The Stairlift Company includes.
- A precise measurement of your staircase during a free in-home assessment, so the rail is made to fit and the price is exact.
- The rail fixed to the stair treads, not the walls or banisters, so your walls stay as they are.
- The carriage and seat fitted, and every safety sensor, the seatbelt, and the battery backup tested before we leave.
- Hands-on training for the person using the lift and any family members who want to learn the controls.
- A full clean-up. We bring every tool and fixing and take the packaging away.
- Local follow-up support from the same team, plus repair and servicing for all brands.
- A standard 120V outlet near the top or bottom of the stairs.
- Clear stairs, with anything stored on the steps moved out of the way.
- Someone at home for the 2 to 4 hour installation window.
- Pets kept away from the work area for their safety.
That's it. We bring the lift, every tool, and every fixing. Wondering what installation adds to the price? Our stair lift installation cost guide explains what's included and what can add to it.

Same-Day and Next-Day Visits for Urgent Cases
If someone is coming home from the hospital after surgery, or a family member is starting hospice care at home, tell us when you call. For urgent cases we try to visit the same or next day, and we'll schedule the installation as early as we possibly can. If the lift is only needed for a few months, stair lift rental is often the quickest and most affordable route, with free removal when you're done.
How to Choose a Stair Lift Installer
Whoever you hire, these are the things worth checking before you sign. They're also how we work.
Ask who will actually come to your home. Every installation we do is handled by our own certified technicians, not subcontractors.
You should get an itemized price after someone measures your stairs in person, not a range over the phone.
A well-installed straight lift bolts to the steps, not the wall, which protects plaster, drywall, and banisters.
Breakdowns happen. Choose an installer who repairs all brands and can reach you the same or next day.
If your staircase isn't a good fit for a straight lift, a good installer says so instead of selling you the wrong product.
If you only need a lift for a few months, stair lift rental includes installation and free removal.
Straight, Outdoor, Standing, Rental & Refurbished
We install straight stair lifts for indoor staircases, weather-sealed outdoor stair lifts for porches and front steps, standing (perch) stair lifts for narrow stairs or stiff knees, rental lifts for short-term needs, and certified refurbished stair lifts. Every one is installed by the same technicians and backed by the same local stair lift repair team.
- Your staircase curves or turns at a landing. We only install straight-rail lifts and will tell you so at the assessment.
- There's no outlet near the stairs. That's often a small fix, and we'll tell you what's needed before the install day.

Stair Lift Installation FAQs
The questions we hear most about installation. If yours isn't here, just give us a call.
-
Most straight stair lifts are installed in 2 to 4 hours on the day of your appointment. From your first call to your first ride, most customers are up and running within a week, often sooner.
-
For urgent cases, such as a hospital discharge after surgery or hospice care at home, we try to visit the same or next day and schedule the installation as early as possible. Tell us about the timing when you call 800-527-4060, and ask about stair lift rental if the need is short term.
-
Usually not. A stair lift plugs into a standard 120V outlet near the top or bottom of the stairs and runs on rechargeable batteries. If there's no outlet nearby, we'll tell you at the assessment what's needed before installation day.
-
No. A straight stair lift rail is fixed to the stair treads, not the walls or banisters. If the lift is removed later, it leaves only small screw holes in the treads.
-
Installation is part of the price we quote, and it depends on the lift and your staircase. Our installation cost guide explains what's included and what can add to it, and the stair lift cost guide covers full prices by type. You get an exact written quote after a free assessment.
-
Our own certified technicians. We don't hand installations to subcontractors, and the same local team handles servicing and repairs afterward.
-
No. We only install straight-rail stair lifts. If your staircase curves or turns at a landing, we'll tell you honestly at the assessment rather than sell you something that doesn't fit.
-
Yes. We install outdoor stair lifts for porches, decks, and front steps, and standing stair lifts for narrow staircases or people who find it hard to bend their knees.
